After arriving in Pakistan in 2019, I have seen many hard-working people, happily doing their jobs, despite the struggles in their life. I often whined over the fact that how hard it is to live in Pakistan after spending so much time in Australia due to lifestyle and currency differences.

Then, one story completely buoyed me up. It’s about Watchman of our residence building. He is Pathan by caste, who is well-known for their tireless and cheerful attitude. It gives me immense joy to talk to all people around me regardless of their status.

He starts at around 6 am and knocks off at 8 pm every day, regardless of the weather. It takes him one hour to arrive at the building on his own rickshaw. Apart from the building maintenance, he also delivers drinking water bottles to many people in the building. Imagine the working spirit of this Pathan.

As you know, life tests a good man more often. One day, while going back from work, his rickshaw was completely wrecked in an accident. He got disabled at that moment, his knee fractured intensely.

His picture, while completely disable to walk

It literally left us all, residents in sorrow and broken-heartedness. He is a guy, who’s always smiling and never saying no to any chores, we ask him. On the contrary, it is another thing that we gotta be concerned about our water delivery but for now, only we can think of is his quick recovery and wellness.

You would not believe, he didn't let this temporary disability lose his faith in God. Even, his faith tripled, he started finding ability in his disability. He kept his spirit so alive that he recovered from it in less than two months. His older son started delivering water bottles to residents with the same big smile as his father’s.

At that time, I was facing many mental blocks such as doubting myself, overthinking every little thing, and being very ungrateful, to be honest. This incident really buckled up my mindset. Every time, I feel like I doubt my abilities, I talk to our white and cute watchman. It gives me lots of courage and a new perspective to tackle life's challenges.

We, humans, are stronger than we can ever imagine. It is all about our mindset and bravery. I have made a simple rule in my life that whenever I feel down or unhappy, I shift my mind to those who have less than me but still living life with a big smile and gratitude. It gives me immense relief and a sense of gratitude.

After he got recovered, I often chatted with him. I asked him, didn’t you feel depressed or hopeless at that very moment when you were unable to walk? He smiled big and said, Only cowards and faithless people cry or feel bad, I took this disability as God’s will to make me realize, nothing can break me if I am faithful enough. It was a moment to find ability in my disability. I was so astonished at his attitude and saying to myself, how little pussy I'm. LOL!

Our Cutie back to Swag!!

Thus, I promised myself that I am never going to complain or cry over little things and always find ways to be grateful in life. This cutie made me believe that life is all about finding ablitiy in your disability. With patience, stillness, and optimism, possibilities are endless.

Your faith can move mountains

and your doubt can create them
